Course Details
Specialise in an area of 3D design that inspires your future. This course is informed by research and led by practice and will see you explore contemporary three-dimensional design practice and gain a human insight into diverse design issues. It will allow you to engage in a reflective and iterative process of design development and learning through doing. You will communicate your design ideas through compelling outcomes and develop your transferable skills to work effectively as a designer in real-world settings.
Innovative research methods will allow you to gain insights into user needs, economic, environmental and ethical considerations, and industry capabilities to inform your design outcomes. The importance of iterative modelling processes (making, testing and improving) will enable you to question, challenge, refine and propose appropriate design solutions that will make a positive contribution to the world around us.
This course recognises the breadth of professional and research-led opportunities within the subject area of 3D Design and supports a culture of discursive enquiry and debate. It aims to foster and nurture independent creative thinkers and will equip you with the necessary attributes to respond to the contemporary challenges undertaken by designers and researchers in the field.
Course Benefits
This course draws upon expertise within a dynamic team of staff and practitioners, including Course Director Lauren Moriarty, who acknowledge the importance of innovative design, while respecting the environment and supporting enterprising graduates. The academic and learning support teams also have a wealth of professional and educational experience.
In addition, you may have opportunities to collaborate with the Retail Institute and the Project Office, who would work with you to research and develop your ideas, ultimately helping you to bring your creations to life.
The INSIDE/OUT lecture series, which is open to all our students, offers historical, theoretical and critical analyses of art, architecture and design and welcomes internationally recognised practitioners to come and talk about their practice.
